Approximately 30 family members of MMIWG attended the 7 day camp in the beautiful mountain range at Ketza Camp near Ross River on September 11-17, 2019. Kaska Elders and traditional teachings included drumming, dancing, singing, sewing, carving, and healing workshops. A vigil was held on the first day in Ross River to remember and honour a recently murdered woman of the community. The vigil was attended by approximately 35 community members.
The camp was delivered by YAWC MMIWG Outreach staff in partnership with Yukon Government, Family Information Liaison Unit (FILU).
