Information from Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada for changes that were made to the Indian Act to eliminate sex-based inequities in registration (status). The most recent of the changes under Bill S-3, were made in 2017 and 2019 and extend entitlement to descendants of women affected by sex-based discrimination. 

This means more individuals are now eligible for registration to Indian status, and can now have access to benefits, services, and programs that contribute to an improved quality of life, and can pass status down to their descendants.
