Join Yukon Status of Women Council, Engineers Yukon, Les EssentiElles, and Victoria Faulkner Women's Centre at the MMIWG Statue in Rotary Park on December 6th for a candle-lit vigil, to commemorate the National Day for Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day marks the anniversary of the 1989 murders of 14 women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal.
For those attending the in-person event, please follow COVID protocols. We encourage everyone to wear masks and physically distance themselves if possible. Please follow the Safe 6. We will be handing out candles at the vigil. Please wear warm clothing as it may be a classic, cold, Yukon day!
If you cannot make it in-person to the vigil, you can watch the live-streamed on Facebook.  Pick up your kit at 308 Hanson Street (front door), 3089 3rd Avenue (9 am- 5 pm), or 503 Hanson Street
on Friday, December 3rd. If you miss this time frame there will be one last chance to pick up kits on Monday at 308 Hanson St. between 9-10 AM. Each kit will include a candle and a QR code to watch the live stream.
Note: you only need to pick up a kit ahead of time if you are unable to attend the vigil in person and will be watching the live-streamed instead.
