COVID-19 Updates

YAWC delivers essential services to a vulnerable population. The following policies will help YAWC continue providing services through its office and community gatherings while keeping staff and clients safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. YAWC will follow the Yukon Government recommendations including Civil Emergency Measures when enforced. YAWC will support clients in a compassionate way to abide by these rules.

YAWC Office & Gatherings Policy

  • Do not come to the office or participate in gatherings if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Do not come to the office or participate in gatherings if you are required to self-isolate for any reason.
  • Phone us if you are not able to visit but need support.
  • Participate in basic COVID-19 screening questions at reception.
  • Practice the Safe 6+1 rules at all times:
  1. Keep 2 meters apart.
  2. Keep your hands clean.
  3. Stay home if you are feeling sick.
  4. Avoid crowds.
  5. Travel with respect.
  6. Self-isolate if needed.
  7. Wear a mask.

Note: Indoor organized gatherings are limited to 50% capacity or 25 individuals with proof of vaccination required (whichever is lower); Outdoor organized gatherings are limited to 50 individuals.

YAWC will not refuse anyone from receiving services if they are not vaccinated. However, dependent on the event or venue, proof of vaccination may be required.

YAWC strongly encourages everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Contact us if you need help booking your appointment or geting your proof of vaccination.

YAWC Staff Proof of Vaccination Policy

Effective November 15, 2021, all YAWC staff (office staff, independent contractors, and volunteers) must show government-issued proof of their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by December 1, 2021, and their second dose by February 1, 2021. Every effort will be made to support staff in complying with this policy. Staff who do not comply will be included in discussions surrounding their circumstances of exceptions for medical or other exceptional reasons, leave without pay, or contract termination.
